Anxiety

Today is the day to reach out, tomorrow is the day to feel better.

The amount of stress you’re under is pretty intense. And it causes you to worry about pretty much everything in your life. It’s like you’re constantly fretting over what might happen and it’s hard to think about anything else.

Sessions take place using a secure video chat service (similar to Skype or FaceTime) which makes scheduling convenient and easy. No traffic, no parking, scheduling is a breeze. Connect with me anywhere on your phone, tablet or computer.

You’re really looking to have more peace and ease in your life, but you’re not sure how to do this under the weight of all the pressure you live with.

You used to enjoy the hustle and bustle of city life. There was always something new and exciting going on for you to pour your energy into. The busy pulse felt right in line with your personality and you thrived on the sense of fast-paced pressure. In fact, you considered yourself an accomplished go-getter.

Yet, somewhere along the way, you began to doubt yourself. The stress and the competitiveness started to get to you and things that used to excite you started to affect you in a different way. You noticed a dread and an anxiety building inside of you which set you worrying about everything from work to relationships, money, and even other people’s’ perceptions of you. You weren’t sure why you were living with all the overwhelm any more and you started to wonder what the point of it all was.

Now here you are living in a constant state of dread

A lot of the time you feel torn between your desire to live an accomplished life and the mountain of stress you are under. And sometimes it seems like you’re just going through the motions, so you can cross another day off your calendar. You’re crushed that what used to feel so life-giving has now turned into a paralyzing sense of fear.

That’s not to say you believed life should be stress-free. Everyone has their good days and their bad days and you’re no exception. But you never thought you’d lose sight of the things in your life that fulfilled you. What you didn’t expect was how you could start to feel completely stagnant. You never predicted you’d be so anxious about the future. And you certainly had no idea you’d avoid the things that once brought you joy.

The Anxiety Counseling Process
Anxiety Counseling is intended to help you examine all of the stressful aspects of your life and find a healthier way to cope and respond. Together, you and your therapist will take an intentional approach to your treatment and work to clarify what is happening on an internal level to cause your anxiety. You will work to meet the immediate needs of reducing stress and calming anxiety and then dive deeper to gain a true understanding of their origins.

You and your therapist will meet together weekly for 30,45 or 50-minute sessions. Sessions are held online using SimplePractice software you may use your computer or your phone. If you decide to use your phone you will need the app, Telehealth by SimplePractice to get started. Typically, counseling continues for several weeks or months, but the duration of your time in therapy will depend on the complexity of your concerns. We recommend at least 8 sessions.

Here’s what to expect:

WEEK ONE: Intake
During this initial session, you and your therapist will meet to define the counseling relationship and discuss the details of informed consent. Your therapist will gather information about your biological, psychological, and social history and how this is impacting your current situation. You will also discuss the benefits and limitations to online therapy.

WEEK TWO and Beyond: Anxiety Counseling
Together, in each subsequent session, you and your therapist will use evidenced-based psychotherapy models to help you regain your ability to concentrate and stop avoiding places or experiences that cause you anxiety. This typically includes the use of Solution-Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Each session is designed to maximize the therapeutic relationship and ensure the most healing possible. Together, you and your therapist will connect in an online therapeutic space with the goal of helping you become the best version of yourself.

TERMINATION: 1-2 Final Sessions
In your final sessions, you will review your goals to ensure you are satisfied with your counseling experience and that the work you and your therapist have done together has met your expectations. You will also outline a plan going forward so that you are able to retain what you have worked on together and implement all you have learned outside of session.
